Margaret Ann (Peggy) Craver
The Western News | UPDATED 1 week AGO
Margaret Ann (Peggy) Craver, 74, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.
Peggy was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on July 4, 1950, to Anthony and Alice Munch.
She graduated high school in Libby, Montana in 1969, where she made life-long friendships with whom she still got together with for reunions every year. After high school, she met and later married the love of her life, John Craver on Nov. 27, 1971.
Together they raised three children, Chris, Cari, and Kelly with time spent cheering them on in all of their sport events and even stepping in to coach. Peggy was a social pillar in her community that began when she was a waitress at Henry’s Restaurant.
She later worked at Hilliard Insurance and eventually at Lincoln County Justice Court, where she would often say she loved her criminals. She received a lot of respect from them, often giving them a chance to make things right, but not without a talking to.
This must have stemmed from her love of mystery novels and TV crime dramas. But, Peggy was most proud of her devotion and leadership in the community and most known for her work with Wings. The Wings organization and the cancer community held a special place in her heart and she spent countless hours driving the fundraising efforts to help so many that she knew and loved.
She was also involved in many years with search, being a search leader for many groups of youth in the community through their search journeys. After the passing of her husband in 2011, she filled some tremendous shoes in her title of Grandma without hesitation.
There is an amazing group of young adults with us that would not be who they are today without her. She had a very special relationship with each and every one of them. She also found tremendous joy in her dogs. They helped fill her days with companionship and made her smile.
Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband John; mother Alice; father Anthony; father-in-law Tom; mother-in-law Shirlee; brother George; brother Jim; brother John; and brother-in-law Rick.
She is survived by her children: Chris (Linette), Cari (Rod), and Kelly (Nick); sister Jean (Mitch); brother Steve (Toni); six grandchildren: Jonathan (Marissa), Christian, Pierce, Ashley, Macy and Allie; and endless extended family and friends.
Strength, love, and generosity poured from Peggy’s heart until her last breath, and a hole will be forever left in the hearts of everyone that knew her. In lieu of flowers, her family would like you to consider a donation in her name to the Wings cancer organization.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at the Mint Bar with services at a later date this summer.
