GIRLS

POST FALLS — Lilli Marti (235) won both of her contested matches as the Lady Bulldogs captured second out of eight teams after all was said and done at the River City Duals held Friday and Saturday at Post Falls High.

In the semifinal match against Post Falls, Sandpoint won the first three matches with Emma Garman (120), Vanessa Hood (126) and Avery Inge (132) all picking up wins by pin for a quick 18-0 lead. Teagan Newsom (145) then won by decision, Zxyloh Johnson (152) and Marti (235) by pin and the Lady Bulldogs picked up three wins by forfeit on their way to a 57-12 victory.

In the championship match against the defending state champions of Thunder Ridge, Izzy Stark (126) won by pin and Inge (132) by forfeit as the Lady Bulldogs mounted a 12-0 lead early. The Lady Titans, however, won the next five matches by pin to sweep the middle-upper weights.

Down 30-12, Marti (235) won by pin, Mackenzee Donenfeld (100) by a 5-4 decision, Summer Birch (107) by major decision, and Hunter Edmonsdon (114) by pin to bring the match to a nail-biting score of 31-30, Lady Bulldogs in front.

Thunder Ridge eventually took the final match by pin for a 35-31 victory. Despite the loss, it proves Sandpoint is set to be a top contender in the state this season. 

Overall, Sandpoint won four of their five duals and Hood, Inge, Donenfeld, Stark, Edmondson and Marti went undefeated throughout the entire tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Missoula for the Hellgate Girls Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

BOYS

POST FALLS — Aidan Rork (113) won two out of his three contested matches as Sandpoint took sixth out of 32 teams at the River City Duals held Friday and Saturday at Post Falls High.

After getting swept across the board by Post Falls in their first dual, Jorden Tyler (190) and Colter Cates (157), in addition to Rork, won their next two matches as well by a combination of one win and one forfeit. Zak Wood (120), Daniel Holman (165), and Jackson Holman (215) also picked up one win by pin on day two to help the Bulldogs' efforts.

Sandpoint defeated Mead 'B' 46-35 in the Gold Championship consolation semifinals, the top of four championship pools, before falling to Kamiakin 45-38 in the fifth-place match.

The Bulldogs travel to Coeur d'Alene Wednesday for a dual.
