Stumptown Historical Society and Whitefish Community Library will co-sponsor a watch party of “Preserving Montana’s Oral History and Traditions” at the Library on Thursday, Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.
The two partners hope to pique the community’s interest around the topic of preserving family histories.
“Our stories are Montana’s stories,” said Stumptown Historical Society’s Executive Director Jill Evans. “We hope to encourage people use us as resources to help preserve their stories.”
The virtual Zoom program shows how to interview, collect and archive oral histories. People can attend the watch party at the library, or register to attend from their home, starting at 6:30 p.m. on the same night.
The program is presented by historic preservation expert Candi Zion and Jennifer Birnel, Montana history portal director. The program is brought to the public via the Montana State Library. Registration can be found on the Whitefish Community Library’s website. For more information, call the library at 862-9914.
