RIVER CITY DUALS

POST FALLS – Head Coach Scott Miller had a feeling that his team wouldn’t back down from anyone, but after two days at the River City Duals he can confidently say that he knows that for sure.

The Wildcats won the tournament’s silver bracket, knocking off Timberlake in the championship after grabbing team wins over Ferris (WA.), Post Falls 3, Sunnyside (WA.), and Kennewick (WA.).

The tournament opened with a narrow loss to Lakeland, but Kellogg recovered in a big way.

“Our team really wrestled their tails off this weekend,” Miller said. “We lost our first dual in a thriller to Lakeland and then ran off five straight wins against some really good competition. We are really pleased to be coming home with the Silver Bracket championship. Every one of our kids found big wins along the way and this was truly a team effort.”

The Wildcats are rounding into late-season form, but there were three guys who stood a little taller than the rest at River City. All of whom finished the weekend undefeated, even if all of those points didn’t go to Kellogg.

“Colton Storey dominated all weekend and had the climatic pin that put us over the top against Sunnyside,” Miller said. “Chase Scriber has been wrestling really well and was dominant, both in the River City Duals and the win over Moscow. Kevin Watson was farmed out to Ephrata for the River City Duals and was very impressive in winning all six of his matches at 106 pounds.”
