It was a balanced attack for Whitefish which allowed the Bulldogs to post a 69-56 victory over their nonleague foe Eureka on Thursday, Jan. 9 at home.
“I feel good about the season so far,” Whitefish Head Coach Alex Gonzalez said. “It’s early in the season, so we are still looking for the right rotations. This team is a very close-knit group who work extremely hard, every day.”
Making its move in the second half, Whitefish outscored its foe by 11 points in what had been a tight battle. The Bulldogs opened a 15-10 lead in the first quarter and had a 31-29 advantage at the half.
Whitefish extended its lead to six points in the third and finished the game outscoring Eureka 17-11 in the final stanza.
“I believe we are an extremely dangerous team who can go on runs,” Gonzalez said. “We have gone deeper in the rotation, and players like Calvin Eisenbarth, Jayke Thew have been able to give us valuable minutes.”
Carson Gulick had 15 points to lead the Bulldogs, but four different Whitefish players were in double-digits. CJ Thew had 14, Will Sisson notched 13, and Cooper Dudley scored 10. Dudley and Thew hit two three-pointers each.
“I’m very impressed with our underclassmen like Reyd Hobart and Will Sisson they bring a lot both on defense and offense to the team,” Gonzalez said. “The sky is the limit with our team. It’s still early and look forward to seeing them play at their true potential.”
Eureka was led by Kyler Krossman’s 20 points.
The win moved the Bulldogs’ record to 3-2 on the season.
