The Whitefish Theatre Company presents its next black curtain reading of the season, “Be Here Now” by Deborah Zoe Laufer, this weekend only.  

This insightful and charmingly funny play, where two lost souls come together under unusual circumstances, has performances Saturday, Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 19 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. 

Surrounded by painfully cheerful co-workers, Bari is deeply cynical and woefully underemployed working at a small-town fulfillment center. As her despair reaches new heights, Bari develops a medical condition with a side effect that turns her into a happy, hopeful, believer in love. But what if curing this condition will return her to her misery? As Bari navigates her relationship with Mike, whom she must pull out of the darkness, this wise and quirky comedy asks what we are willing to do for love and happiness - and to create meaning in our lives. 

“Be Here Now” is directed by Justin Ghostlight.Cast members include Amy Galt as Bari, Andrew Matulionis as Matt, Stephanie Miller as Luanna, and JeAnna Wisher as Patty.  

Viewers are reminded that as a black curtain production, there will be minimal staging, set and props and actors will be reading from a script. This performance also contains adult language and mature themes.
