The Glacier Wolfpack boys were impressive through the higher weights Thursday, and ended up narrowly losing their wrestling dual with Butte 42-41 at the Wolf Den.

Jerin Coles (150), Niko Coles (165), Matthew Ahner (175), Mark Ahner (190), Chase Chaffin (215) and Noah Horn (285) all picked up pins as the Pack ate up most of a 36-6 deficit.  

Aiden Sweat also had a quick pin at 110 before Butte started racking up forfeit victories — four in all.  

“I’m proud of the way our guys battled back tonight after getting down due to the forfeits,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said. “Really proud of our seniors tonight: Nikola Coles, Wyatt Jensen, and Mark Ahner. It’s been such a pleasure to have those three in the program. “We’re looking forward to the Rocky this weekend. We are making good momentum forward and it is showing on the mat.” 

The Rocky Mountain Classic is on tap this weekend in Missoula, along with the Hellgate Mixer for the girls.

Conversely to the boys’ dual, the Glacier girls were deadly at the lower weights before the Bulldogs piled up big points with forfeits. Brooke Yeadon (110), Mikaela Julius (115), Kaura Coles (120) and Kylie Shine (125) all picked up pins and accounted for all of the Wolfpack’s points.
