Lawrence R. "Larry" Kaber, 86, of Kalispell, passed away peacefully on Jan. 12, 2025, at his home. He was born on July 18, 1938, in Whitefish to Walter and Ellen Kaber. His life was one of dedication to education, community service, and love for his family.

A devoted educator, Larry made a lasting impact on the lives of countless students while teaching mathematics for 38 years at Flathead High School, 10 years at Flathead Valley Community College, and four summers in Hong Kong. He was a true believer in the power of education and loved talking about math. He remained connected to his former teaching colleagues and friends through weekly breakfasts and coffee meet-ups at local cafes where they solved all the world's problems.

Larry was a University of Montana graduate and loved following U of M sports. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting and fishing, and enjoyed challenging crossword puzzles. As a voracious reader, Larry found joy in books of all kinds and loved learning new things.

He was an active and engaged member of his community. He was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Kalispell Elks Lodge. He enjoyed volunteering at the Flathead Food Bank, and also served on several organizational boards through his lifetime, including Immanuel Living, Flathead Lake Lutheran Bible Camp, and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics for Montana.

Larry’s legacy will be forever carried on by his wife of 63 years, Charlotte Kaber, who was the love of his life and his partner in all things. He is also survived by his daughter, Debra (Phil) Misecko; his granddaughters, Teague Pawlak and Emma Misecko; and nine nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lori Kaber; his parents, Ellen and Walter Kaber; and his five siblings, Marvin Kaber, Louis Kaber, Harvey Kaber, Emma Fredrickson, and Lois Hull.

His presence will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Kalispell at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Flathead Lake Lutheran Bible Camp or the Flathead Food Bank.
