POST FALLS — Vicky and Larry Tanner tied the knot in 2010 on a crisp fall day in November at the Trailhead Event Center at Q’emiln Park. As the ceremony progressed, snow began to fall, framing their ceremony with soft, fluffy flakes.
Vicky Tanner said she and her husband had reconnected three decades after high school and stumbled onto the venue as an option through employment with the Post Falls Parks and Recreation Department.
“It was the halfway point for both of our friends and family to join us and a beautiful view,” Tanner recalled.
Post Falls Parks and Recreation officials said they never intended to get into the bridal show business, but 10 years ago as they evaluated the use of the center at Q’emiln Park, they realized there was a lot of interest in the location as a wedding venue.
“At the time the building was done and there was the perfect peekaboo view of the (Spokane) River,” recreation manager Traci Stevenson said.
This weekend, caterers, photographers, florists, dress designers, venues, DJs, beauty providers, planners, event supplies and dance instructors will participate in the event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Wedding vendors will be at the Trailhead at Q'emiln Park, the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center and Red Lion Hotel Templin's on the River.
The bridal tour is free and includes prizes.
Changes over the years to the Trailhead include rewiring the building to keep up with the power demands and adding air conditioning to keep up with the hot summers in North Idaho.
“Parks and Recreation is excited that, not only do we offer a nice, affordable wedding venue at the Trailhead, but that we can bring a lot of people together to assist couples in planning their whole celebration,” Stevenson noted.
The Post Falls Bridal Tour usually hosts between 700-1,200 people to peruse offerings for their big day.
