Lake City’s Strawn nominated for McDonald’s All-American Games 

Reese Strawn, a senior guard at Lake City High, was one of 805 boys and girls nationwide nominated for the McDonald’s All-American Games, scheduled for April 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. 

Strawn, a four-year varsity member of the Timberwolves and a 1,000-point career scorer, was one of 234 boys nominated for the West team.

He was the lone nominee from Idaho — boy or girl. 

From this list of nominees, a total of 48 players will be selected to play in the boys and girls games on April 1. 

Blake Buchanan of Lake City was nominated for the games in 2023. 

Last year, Teagan Colvin of Coeur d’Alene and Avery Waddington of Lake City were nominated. 


Longtime EWU assistant promoted to offensive coordinator

CHENEY — Eastern Washington associate head coach Marc Anderson has been named offensive coordinator for the Eagles, Eastern head coach Aaron Best announced. 

Anderson will enter his 14th year with the program in 2025 (11th as a full-time staff member). He also retains the associate head coach title.

Also jining Best's staff will be Chad Germer as offensive line coach and recent Eagle tight end Austin York, will make the move from student-athlete to coach as he takes over the tight end group for Anderson. 

Anderson has served as associate head coach and tight ends coach the past three seasons. He started as a student intern in 2011 before taking on roles as a video coordinator and student operations assistant (2014), and then director of football operations and recruiting coordinator in 2016. 

Germer has 29 years of coaching experience in the collegiate ranks and returns to the Big Sky after spending last season as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Montana State University-Northern.

Before coaching at Northern, Germer coached the offensive line at Montana, Wyoming, and UNLV. Germer had three stints with the Grizzlies, starting in 1998 to 2002, 2009, and most recently, 2015 to 2021. He was at UNLV from 2010 to 2014 and Wyoming from 2003 to 2008. 

York goes right from the field to the sideline after he finished his third season with Eastern in 2024 as a student-athlete and completed his communications studies degree with a minor in coaching. York finished his Eagle football career with 34 games played and 12 starts. The Chico, Calif., native finished with 22 receptions for 154 yards and one touchdown.
