Major Craig Petersen won first place for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Teacher of the Year for the district and the state and was presented an award by VFW Post Cmdr. Chris Marker.
KELLOGG — Kellogg High School students expressed their thoughts on the theme, "My voice in America's democracy" and the question, "Is America today the forefather's vision?" as part of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy competition.
Chris Marker, commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1675 in Osburn, said the national contest channels patriotism while asking students to engage in critical thinking and research to support their arguments.
