VFW Patriot Pen, Voice of Democracy contests announce winners

KELLOGG — Kellogg High School students expressed their thoughts on the theme, "My voice in America's democracy" and the question, "Is America today the forefather's vision?" as part of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy competition.
Chris Marker, commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1675 in Osburn, said the national contest channels patriotism while asking students to engage in critical thinking and research to support their arguments.

First Place: Ryken White, third Place in the District
Second Place: Piper Hendrix
Third Place: Mattix Harris
Teacher of the Year:
First place in District and First Place in State: Maj. Craig Petersen
