Polson Seniors: Serving more meals

We continue to provide weekday lunches for seniors and the needy in our community. This year our meals served per week continues to grow in unprecedented numbers.
We thank our employees and volunteers for their hard work and dedication. We thank all our members, our community and government agencies for their support.
Mandatory pre-registration begins now for AARP Tax Preparation Assistance and continues through April 15. You must make a reservation for assistance by calling or stopping by the Polson Senior Community Center.
Appointment times are available starting in February on Mondays or Thursdays only between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. through mid-April. You may register by phone, and then pick up your packet to fill out prior to your appointment time.
The center is looking for a full-time or part-time executive assistant/nutrition director to work weekdays only. Apply at the center. Wages are $16-$25 and negotiable.
Bowling “no-tap” is Tuesdays, 1-3 p.m. Join any time.
Activities at the Polson center, open to all, include: wood carving for beginners, 1 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, join any week; self-guided, video-assisted exercise, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; bingo, 6 p.m. Fridays ($100 blackout), with playing card bingo resuming Feb. 5.
Pinochle is now offered two days a week: 12:15-3 p.m. Mondays or Thursdays, three- four- or five-handed. Beginners are welcome. Inquire at the center about bridge.
The Spinning Wheelers meet 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month (Feb. 4); bring spinning wheel and fiber.
Invite a foursome for Wednesday Play Day to play cards, board games, dominos, Mah-Jong, etc.
The pool table is open for play 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays.
A veteran’s service officer visits the center on the first Friday and third Tuesday of each month.
Meals are available for sit-down from 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays, and delivered to qualified people who call before 10 a.m. A suggested donation of $5 helps support the nutrition program.
Upcoming main dishes include: pigs in a blanket and mac ‘n cheese, Jan. 23; Birthday Dinner for Lunch with beef roast and all the fixins’ on Jan. 24; taco soup, Jan. 27; beef stroganoff, Jan. 28; chicken salad, Jan. 29; turkey à la king, Jan. 30; and sloppy Joes, Jan. 31.
