PREP ROUNDUP: Howard powers Clark Fork boys past ICA
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 12 hours, 21 minutes AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | January 23, 2025 9:20 PM

Clark Fork 53, Immaculate Conception 36
CLARK FORK — Just ask other teams the Wampus Cats have faced this year — they're having a hard time stopping Owen Howard.
The Clark Fork High junior produced a game-high 18 points and 22 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the year Thursday in a 17-point non-league win over the visiting Cristeros, which compete independently and are based out of Post Falls.
Howard also blocked five shots on the night.
"Every game that he has played a full game this year, he's had a double-double," Clark Fork High head coach Stillman Berkley said. "He's been huge, and I know tonight he wasn't feeling good, but I told him he just has to get after it. We saw some more aggression from him tonight ... there were some misses that he went back hard for (and got the putback) four or five times, and that's what we needed from him."
Fellow junior Westin Caven added 13 points and had a game-high five assists and five steals for the Wampus Cats.
"Westin did a really good job tonight and is turning over the ball less," Berkley said. "He's been more of a controlling factor offensively and defensively — he did a really good job tonight playing Dominic (Wilhelm), their best guy. He's a really good ball player."
Senior Evrett Montgomery added 12 points and nine rebounds, sophomore Mateo Cruz 10 points and three blocks in the win.
Clark Fork (2-8, 0-2) travels to Kootenai on Thursday.

"She (Sienna) ended with 23 points, but I felt she had to work for them the whole time ... Genesis Prep really gets after the ball and it took us awhile to settle down. They're a well-coached team."
