Patrick 'Paddy' O’Sullivan

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patrick “Paddy” O’Sullivan on Jan. 20, 2025, on the feast of St. Sebastian (Patron Saint of a Holy Death) in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Paddy was 70 years old and passed peacefully after receiving Last Rites and surrounded by family.

Born in Chicago, Ill., Paddy is survived by his devoted wife, Kelly, the love of his life, whom he adored, and his four children: Patti, Michael, Cavan and Shannon, and Robin, whom he considered a daughter. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and predeceased by his grandson, Patrick O’Sullivan.

Paddy lived a life guided by his faith, humility and charity towards everyone. He loved Christ and the Blessed Virgin, his family (especially his grandkids), and his Irish heritage. Paddy served in the United States Navy and after completing military service, he served in law enforcement for more than 20 years. After retiring, he moved his family to a quiet life in beautiful North Idaho. Wherever Paddy went he was known for making purchases with $2 bills and for spreading appreciation of Irish culture. When the Idaho Dept. of Motor Vehicles removed the apostrophe from all driver’s licenses, Paddy fought for and won back the option to have apostrophes in Irish names. His presence in a room always brought with it warmth, kindness and a hint of humor and mischief. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

A high mass for his burial will be held Thursday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc parish in Post Falls, Idaho. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Spokane Valley, Wash.
