OTHELLO, Wash. — Lake City senior Alexxis Johnson won by major decision to claim the 120-pound title at the Othello Lady Huskies Tournament on Saturday at Othello High.
Johnson beat White River sophomore Amanda Lillie 14-2 in the championship match, her second straight title after winning at the Hellgate Invitational on Jan. 18.
“Alexxis felt she should have been in the finals here last year and missed out on placing,” Lake City girls coach Nathan DeLeon said. “She just came out and wrestled smart and more calculated than she’s been. She’s focused on being patient and it’s paying big dividends for her.”
Timberlake junior Shelby Garten pinned Jalisca Holmgren of Cheney in 42 seconds in the 125-pound championship.
Post Falls freshman Kahli Brown was fourth, while Bonners Ferry senior Sofia Brown was sixth at 135.
Bonners Ferry junior Nevaeh Therrien was fifth at 110.
