Avista outage affects thousands in Coeur d'Alene

Outages left 2,255 Avista customers without power in Coeur d’Alene on Monday morning.
A “non-Avista contractor” hit an underground utility while excavating south of Sherman Avenue and Seventh Street around 9:22 a.m. Monday, according to Avista, causing the outage.
Avista crews soon arrived on the scene to make repairs. Power was restored to all affected customers by 10:40 a.m., according to Avista.
