Dahlon Mark Hess was born Feb. 9, 1971, to David Gary Hess and Josephine Ruth (Klimosh) Hess in Indianapolis, Ind. He grew up in Berrien Springs, Mich., and graduated from Andrews Academy in 1989. He continued his education at Grand Valley State, where he attained his associate's degree and began his career in physical therapy. He met Kristin Kwiatkowski through his work, and they were united in marriage Aug. 29, 2004, in Petoskey, Mich. The couple was blessed with a son, Caden, and 20 years of marriage together. They made their home in Boyne Falls, Mich., where Dahlon worked as a physical therapy assistant. In 2009, the family was ready for a new adventure and moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Dahlon fought a fearless and courageous fight against cancer and won the battle. After a recent decline in health, he died peacefully Jan. 23, 2025. He was surrounded by family and friends at the Schneidmiller Hospice House and was blessed with 53 years of life.
Dahlon loved the outdoors. He enjoyed snowboarding, kayaking, camping, scuba diving, hiking and bird hunting with his son. He especially enjoyed time spent with his family.
Dahlon is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kristin; son Caden; parents Gary Hess (and his wife, Marilyn); brother Terry Hess (his wife, Lisa, and daughter, Mia); a sister, Debbie Hess.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine, and an infant sister, Kelly.

A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, Feb. 2, at Jeremiah Johnson Brewing Company, 826 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. All are welcome.
A Memorial Kayak Farewell will be held July 5, 2025, at the Priest Lake Thoroughfare — Boats will launch at 10 a.m. at Beaver Creek Campground Boat Launch.
