A Kalispell felon convicted of criminal endangerment for ramming law enforcement vehicles during a chase near Martin City in 2023 is once again being sought by authorities.

Prosecutors are seeking the revocation of 40-year-old Troy Allen Hale's April 2024 suspended sentence in Flathead County District Court. Hale tested positive for methamphetamine in July, left his job in August and stopped reporting to his probation officer in September, according to court documents. He also failed to attend substance abuse treatment.

"[Hale] has shown no effort to change his ways as he continues to use illegal drugs without seeking any treatment or help from resources," wrote Jody McLeod, probation officer, in an October violation report. "His complete disregard for the conditions ordered by the court makes him unfit for community supervision at this time as he needs a more structured environment."

McLeod recommended Hale see his suspended sentence revoked and receive a five-year stint with the state Department of Corrections instead.

Judge Danni Coffman, who presided over Hale's case, issued a warrant for his arrest that same month.

Hale was brought up on felony criminal endangerment and criminal mischief charges as well as one count of misdemeanor partner or family member assault after leading authorities on a chase near Martin City in October 2023.

Flathead County Sheriff's Office deputies began searching for Hale after dispatchers received a suspicious 911 call, court documents said. They reported hearing two people —a man and a woman — yelling. The man allegedly threatened to drive them both off a cliff.

Authorities tracked the call down to Desert Mountain Road and converged on the area about 2 a.m. Hale, driving a Jeep Wrangler, allegedly rammed the first law enforcement vehicle he came across. He then barreled at vehicle driven by a deputy but stopped before the two collided, court documents said.

As he tried to maneuver around the deputy, Hale allegedly struck the left rear side of the law enforcement vehicle and caused about $1,500 in damage.

Though Hale initially maintained his innocence, he struck a plea deal with prosecutors in April 2024. In exchange for pleading guilty to criminal endangerment, prosecutors agreed to drop the criminal mischief and partner or family member assault charges. As part of the deal, prosecutors recommended that Hale receive a suspended five-year sentence and pay $25,000 in restitution.
