Missing woman found dead in Shoshone County

COEUR d’ALENE — A woman reported missing over the weekend was found dead in Shoshone County.

Sarena C. Harrison, 42, of Hayden, was found inside her vehicle on Coeur d’Alene River Road late Sunday afternoon. She had sustained a gunshot wound, according to the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, and the gun was retrieved from the scene. 

Harrison’s family had reported her missing around 2 p.m. Saturday. 

“Our prayers go out to her family and friends,” Capt. Seth Green said. 

Harrison was an interventionist at Atlas Elementary School. 

“Sarena was a beloved member of the Atlas Elementary School family,” the Coeur d’Alene School District said in a public statement. “With heartfelt sympathy, we extend our deepest condolences to Sarena’s husband, children and all who knew and loved her. She will be much missed by us all.” 

The investigation into Harrison’s death is ongoing, police said.
