One dies in canal accident near Ephrata

EPHRATA – Kevin Kershaw, 55, of Yakima, was attempting to drive his 2025 GMC Sierra on the canal road when he attempted to turn around and lost control of the vehicle Thursday. The vehicle slid into the canal and Kershaw was found deceased downstream from the vehicle.
Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to the canal near Road A NW and Road 9 NW, southeast of Ephrata, after someone reported a white vehicle submerged in the canal, leading to the discovery of Kershaw’s death.
According to GCSO, Columbia Basin Dive and Rescue assisted with recovering Kershaw and his vehicle. The Grant County Coroner is in possession of Kershaw’s remains. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident.

Boys and Girls Club logo allegedly used in Moses Lake scam
MOSES LAKE — Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin officials are warning people that scammers apparently are using the club’s logo and claiming to be affiliated with the organization. The scammers allegedly were soliciting money door to door along Third Avenue early Tuesday afternoon.
