GREAT FALLS — After dropping the first two games of a three-game series, the Kalispell AA Lakers plated three runs in the sixth inning to complete the comeback and down the Great Falls Chargers 4-2 in American Legion baseball Monday night.

The Chargers (31-25-2) made two errors in the sixth inning, one to tie the game and the other extending the inning where the Lakers (27-15 overall, 8-7 in the Montana/Alberta standings) capitalized, plating the winning runs.

Kaeden Kahler led off the sixth inning with a walk and came around to score after Kyler Croft grounded out to third but was safe on a throwing error to tie the game. Teegan Dixon singled home Croft for a 3-2 lead and another Chargers’ error set up Ostyn Brennan to drive home Dixon for the final run.

It was a strong pitching performance from both starters, with the Lakers’ Jackson Heino going five innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs, striking out three. Gavin Gray matched Heino’s five innings, allowing just three hits and three walks and fanning five.

Dixon led the Lakers with two hits, scoring and driving in one. Brennan drove in the other RBI as two of the runs were unearned, and Luke Nikunen recorded a double for the only extra-base hit for Kalispell.

The Lakers begin a three-game set with the visiting Billings Royals with a Thursday doubleheader, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Griffin Field.
