Red Sox rally, sweep Western A doubleheader from Lakers

HAMILTON — Jackson Lubke launched a solo home run and the Kalispell A Lakers were held scoreless through the first five innings as the Bitterroot Red Sox completed the doubleheader sweep with a 3-1 victory in American Legion baseball Tuesday.
In game one the Lakers (25-22) jumped out to an early 5-2 before the Red Sox (22-9) scored five runs over their final two innings to win 7-5.
Lubke was a force on the mound in game two, allowing just two hits, two walks and striking out nine across 5 1-3 innings. The Red Sox scored a run in the first and the second on RBI groundouts before Lubke added some pop with his solo shot in the fifth.
The only run the Lakers generated came after Lubke came out in the seventh inning; reliever Boedy Tadvick was greeted by a double from Tait Orme. With two outs, Miles Arrowsmith doubled home Orme.
George Schwan made a strong start for the Lakers. In five innings he allowing three hits, five walks and one earned run.
Red Sox 7, Lakers 5
Beau Shultz led off the game with a walk for the Lakers (25-21) before back-to-back Red Sox (21-9) errors scored Shultz and Liam Rech for an early 2-0 lead. Orme followed with a single before Dillon Wink doubled, and Orme came around to score on Schwan’s RBI ground out.
Bitterroot battled back in the first with back-to-back walks and plated two runs on a fielder’s choice and a hit-by-pitch. The Lakers retook the lead in the third inning, scoring on another error and Schwan’s RBI double to make it 5-3 before the Red Sox staged their comeback.
Reese Earp hit a two-run single before Elijah McNair-Neal laced a double to centerfield to plate two runs and gave the Red Sox their first lead of the game, 6-5. They plated another run in the sixth on an error as the Lakers and Red Sox each committed three.
The Lakers were held to just three hits.
