Fire to host post levy town hall
CHLOE COCHRAN | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 8 months AGO
Two months after Selkirk Fire, Rescue and EMS failed to pass a levy that would improve response times and fund personnel, the fire commissioners are holding a town hall July 12 at 2 p.m. at the Sandpoint Library to discuss next steps forward.
During the town hall, commissioners are expected to discuss higher priority subjects pertaining to a needs assessment and strategic plan forward after the levy failure.
“They’ll (fire commissioners) be providing information on staffing updates, a shifting of budget priorities, a little bit of an update on our volunteer program, and then, most importantly, they’re going to be taking your questions and input,” said Selkirk Fire, Rescue EMS Chief Jeff Armstrong during a county business meeting.
For those unable to attend the event, it will be livestreamed via Zoom. Streaming information can be found at https://bit.ly/44IZGfD.
All community members within the Sagle, Westside and Northside fire districts are encouraged to attend and participate.
"We want your input; we want you to be involved. I know it's super easy to get on Facebook and make posts, but unless you come and have your voice be heard, then these commissioners don't really know what the community is expecting,” said Armstrong.
