COEUR d’ALENE — A Washington man who was convicted of shooting at a family on the Coeur d’Alene Reservation faces possible prison time, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

After a four-day trial, jurors convicted Jason Bergeron, 50, of three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Authorities said Bergeron drove to his former girlfriend’s home on the Coeur d’Alene Reservation and shot a rifle into the house while his former girlfriend, her daughter and son-in-law and her 3-year-old grandson were present.

Bergeron shot multiple rounds of ammunition toward the daughter and son-in-law as they fled with their child, then pointed the rifle at his former girlfriend and threatened to kill her, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Bergeron is set to be sentenced in September before U.S. District Judge Amanda K. Brailsford at the federal courthouse in Coeur d’Alene.

Each of the three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon is punishable by up to 10 years in federal prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release.
