EAST MISSOULA — Raina Ports of Missoula went wire-to-wire to claim the 108th Montana State Amateur Championship Saturday at the Canyon River Golf Club.

Ports, who opened with rounds of 69 and 73, closed with 71 for a three-day total of 3-under 213 (-3). She won by two shots over Corvallis High product Macee Greenwood, who fired a 4-under 68 on Saturday.

Ports opened with a 34 on the front, made her lone bogey on hole 13 and closed in 37. The owner of the lowest scoring average in Montana Grizzlies tournament history put together three rounds full of steady, mistake-free play that did not provide much opportunity for challengers.

Ports, who also won the Earl Hunt Fourth of July Tournament in Whitefish, got her fiercest charge from Greenwood. The Boise State golfer went out in 35 with a birdie on No. 2, then got an eagle on No. 11 and two more birdies on the way to a 33 on the back.

The two-time Montana State Junior Champion (2021-22) arrived straight from the Pacific Northwest Women’s Amateur, where she advanced from stroke play to match play. Hannah Ports, Raina’s twin sister and Griz teammate, played in the final group and finished third with a final round of 74 for a three-day total of 225.

Fourth was a three-way tie at 226 between Kendall Hayward (Missoula), Shealyn Hafer (Butte) and two-time defending champion Lauren Greeny (Bozeman).

Isabella Downing (Billings) shot under par with 71 for the final round to finish in 7th at 228. Anna Stensrud (Missoula) was eighth at 234, Ashley Maki was ninth at 235 and in a tie for 10th were Anna Fenhaus (Billings) and Emma Woods (Fairfield) at 237.

Fenhaus won the Carla Berg Award for the low junior player in the state. She shot a 73 on Saturday.

Flathead High product Stella Claridge finished 12th at 238.

The first-ever Masters-40 Championship in MSGA history came down to the final hole: Canyon River member Jamie Henkensiefken (254) edged Dee Flemmer of Stevensville by one stroke.

Henkensiefken is a former University of Montana Grizzly golfer and 1996 State AA medalist at Helena Capital; she trailed Flemmer by a stroke after Friday’s round.

She then led by two before a triple-bogey on 15 dropped her stroke behind; she chipped in for birdie on 17 to draw back into a tie, then got par on the par-5 18 while Flemmer bogeyed.

Bigfork’s Louis Cholette-Haley posted 88 in her final round to finish third at 261. Kalispell’s Mia Caulk was fifth at 264.
