Libby Public Schools will interview a candidate for its Middle/High School principal job.

According to information from the school, a special board meeting will be held Thursday at K.W. Maki Theatre.

The candidate is Niall Trimble and his interview will be held at 4:30 p.m.

Public comment begins at 5 p.m. with the board’s deliberation to follow. It is possible that the board will make a selection at this meeting.

All board interviews are open to the public and a short executive session after the interview is possible.

Prior to the board interview, Trimble will meet with Superintendent Ron Goodman, take a tour of the middle/high school and meet building staff.

According to information on the Nampa School District, Idaho, Trimble is the Director of Federal Programs.

Scott Beagle, the director of curriculum and special services, stepped in to handle principal responsibilities in early January following the resignation of former principal Jim Germany after he was accused of assaulting a student Dec. 9, 2024, during class.

Germany’s case was resolved Feb. 12 when his attorney Ann German and Deputy County Attorney Jeff Zwang signed a pretrial diversion agreement.

The agreement says Germany will not be tried for the offense during the pretrial diversion, which is in effect for one year. The deal calls for Germany to not violate any laws of Montana, the U.S. and any other state. Per the agreement, Germany is not pleading guilty to any offense and is not admitting any of the allegations made against him.

If prosecutors determine Germany has violated the terms of the agreement, it may proceed with the prosecution and request a trial date. If Germany complies with the terms, the agreement will be terminated and the prosecution dismissed with prejudice upon its expiration.

The following coaches were named for the 2025-26 spring sports season: high school track (Josh Bean, Dan Rose, Jim May and Tim Hodel); softball (Kellen MacDonald and Tyler Houston); tennis (Kyle Hannah and Terry Oedewalt) and middle school track (Brittany Katzer, Cooper Mills, Lonni Miller and Bill Moe).
