Coffee in the Garden makes return to Create Art Center

If you are looking for coffee, tea, treats — and good conversation — look no further than Create Art Center on Thursdays this summer as the facility welcomes a variety of artists to demonstrate their talents.

After kicking off July 10, the Coffee in the Garden program continues this week Thursday, July 17. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to noon.

Thursday's artist, Shaun Deller, will present a program on the art of wood carving followed by a youth class for youth between 8 and 15 years old. The free class is sponsored by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians. Pre-registration is required. The student number is limited. 

All Thursday morning demonstrations or participation events, with refreshments, are free. Check the Create website or Facebook page for the complete schedule.

• July 17 — Shaun Deller, wood carving and youth class, 11 a.m.

• July 24 — Lynn Walters, alcohol inks on rocks

• July 31 — Pend Oreille Fiber Arts, spinners of fleece, knitters and more

• Aug. 7 — Bill Moore, Outlaw drummers rhythm healing

• Aug. 14 — Linda Cassella and friends, ukuleles and guitars

• Aug. 21 — Stephanie McMeachan, belly dance

Create Art Center is located one block from the Newport Middle School at 900 W. Fourth in Newport, Wash.
