The Glacier Twins hosted the Ed Gallo Tournament in Whitefish last weekend, finishing with one win.

The Twins’ lone victory came Friday, July 11, against West Plains in a 5-3 win fueled by strong pitching from Trenton Derosa. He tossed six innings, allowing just three hits and no earned runs while striking out six. Derosa also led the offense with two hits and an RBI. Glacier chipped away after falling behind 3-0 early, scoring in four straight innings to pull ahead.

Saturday saw Glacier run into a buzzsaw in Webber, who used a six-run fifth inning to down the Twins 9-4. Despite a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate by Nolan Amerman—including a double and RBI—Glacier couldn’t recover from the big inning. Treyson Murphy and West Amerman combined on the mound but struggled with command, walking eight.

Later that day, the Twins fell 15-5 to Missoula in a game that spiraled late. The Mavericks scored 10 runs in the final two innings, aided by seven Glacier walks and four defensive errors. Derek Juntunen and Keaton Simpach both saw mound time, but Missoula capitalized on every extra opportunity.

Glacier wrapped up the tournament Sunday with a 12-4 loss to the Moose Monarchs. The Twins trailed just 3-2 after three innings, but a five-run fourth by Moose broke it open. Glacier pitchers issued 11 walks in the loss, and while Derek Juntunen drove in two runs, it wasn’t enough to slow the Monarchs’ momentum.

The Twins showed offensive promise throughout the weekend—particularly from the Amerman brothers and Murphy—but the team’s 19 total errors and 30 walks issued proved too much to overcome.

Glacier Drops Nailbiter to Bitterroot Thursday, July 10, Glacier dropped a nail-biter to Bitterroot, falling 8-7 after surrendering four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Murphy went 3-for-4 at the plate, and Dawson Juntunen struck out seven over six and a third innings, but a late rally from Bitterroot spoiled the effort.
