'Tysdal Strong' tees, apparel sales raise money for injured firefighter's family

As Coeur d’Alene Fire Department engineer David Tysdal begins a lengthy recovery process, visible reminders of the community’s support will welcome him when he returns home.
Designed by firefighters and family members, 100% of proceeds from the sale of specially made T-shirts will support Tysdal and his family through the Red and Blue Foundation.
The shirt’s front design features a Maltese cross adorned with three stars — one for Tysdal, and one each for battalion chiefs Frank Harwood and John Morrison, who lost their lives in the June 29 shooting.
The back of each shirt includes an outline of the state of Idaho, a heart in the location of Coeur d’Alene, the shadows of evergreen trees and two simple, powerful words: “Tysdal Strong.”
Coeur d’Alene firefighter Matthew Glenn said the goal was to create a “positive and uplifting” design.
“We felt that it would be good to have (something) supporting Dave in his recovery process,” Glenn said.
The shirts are being sold online by Idaho Falls-based company Vast Apparel. Hoodies and hats with similar designs are also available.
Donations to each of the firefighters’ families can be made through the Red and Blue Foundation website, redbluefoundation.org.

Coeur d'Alene chamber grows to nearly 1,000 members as it continues to evolve
A sepia-toned photograph of about 30 businessmen hangs in the office of Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber’s President and CEO, Linda Coppess. Though dressed in the fashion of decades past, the men gathered for a purpose that has endured: uplifting area businesses through the Chamber. The photo is a reminder of the Chamber’s 114 years of history, Coppess said in her address to nearly 200 attendees at Tuesday morning’s Breakfast Connect event.
