COEUR d'ALENE — The annual fundraiser for Canopy Village raised a record-breaking $425,000 this year, rocketing beyond last year’s total by $100,000.
The nonprofit's annual fundraiser hosted 575 people on the same day as the remembrance ceremony for Battalion Chief John Morrison.
“Our entire community needed to come together for fellowship,” said Jody Azevedo, Numerica Credit Union vice president of market development. Numerica Credit Union was the title sponsor for the event.
The fundraiser was held at the Canopy Village campus for an evening under the tents filled with music, auctions, games and a paddle raise.
Proceeds will support crisis respite, emergency shelter and family support services for vulnerable youth and families across North Idaho.
“In a time of such tragedy, it’s even more important to find your village," Marie Nail, Canopy Village Foundation board president, said. "We are grateful for the village of supporters who lifted us up this week.”
Formerly known as Children’s Village, Canopy Village provided crisis assistance to nearly 250 families in 2024.
The organization is undergoing a master planning process to guide the development of its 15-acre campus as part of an ongoing capital campaign.
The Canopy Village Summer Raffle remains open now through July 31 at noon and tickets are available at www.canopyservices.org.
Canopy Village is a trauma responsive safe haven, restoring trust and hope for children and families who experience abuse, neglect or are in crisis.
