Presley decommits, now headed to Sacramento State

Glacier quarterback Jackson Presley flipped his commitment from Montana State to Sacramento State late Wednesday evening.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Wolfpack senior thanked Bobcats coach Brent Vigen but said ultimately that Sacramento State, “presented opportunities that will support the vision I have for my future, both on and off the field.”
“I’m committed to building a future that supports not only my football journey, but also my personal growth and long-term life goals,” Presley added. “I trust that God is guiding me into the next chapter with purpose and I’m excited to announce that I’ll be playing for Sacramento State University.”
The Hornets recently announced their departure from the Big Sky Conference, coming in 2026. They will join the Big West for all sports except for football, which the Big West has not sponsored since 2000. They are the second school to leave the Big Sky for the Big West, joining Nevada back in 1992, who also left to move up to the FBS (then Division 1-A) level.
The Hornets football program currently will stay an FCS independent while the school attempts to move up to the FBS level. The NCAA recently denied a waiver submitted by the school to move up as an independent.
“Sacramento State has met every meaningful benchmark for FBS membership,” Sacrament State President Luke Wood said in a statement on X regarding the decision. “We believe our university, our students, and the entire Sacramento region deserve major college football.”
Presley previously flipped his commitment from Boise State to Montana State back on March 30.
Presley and the Wolfpack reached the state championship game in each of the past two seasons, losing to Bozeman 35-27 in 2023. Helena Capital bested Glacier 34-21 last November; the Wolfpack finished 10-2.
Presley has thrown for 5,722 yards and 53 touchdowns the past two seasons. On the ground, he’s found paydirt 16 times and amassed 337 yards.
