Prosecutors have filed a felony charge against a man accused of dealing more than $1,500 in damage inside the parking garage in Whitefish last month.
Bridger Jackson David, 21, faces one count of criminal mischief in Flathead County District Court following the June 28 incident in downtown Whitefish. Released on his own recognizance, he was expected to appear before Judge Amy Eddy on July 17 for his arraignment.
David came to the attention of Whitefish Police officers after they went to the parking garage for a report of two people stuck in the elevator about 10:31 p.m., according to court documents. A broken glass door was found near the elevator, court documents said.
A review of surveillance footage showed a man later identified as David kicking the glass door. Officers also reported damage to the interior of the elevator, which they said David used.
If convicted, David faces up to 10 years in Montana State Prison and a $50,000 fine.
