COEUR d’ALENE — U.S. Marshals arrested a man in New Orleans who evaded arrest in Athol last year on an out-of-state warrant.
Christian B. Fischer was arrested in Florida in 2022 for traveling to meet a minor, according to a news release, and accused of “using a computer to lure a child for sexual purposes.” In February 2024, authorities said Fischer failed to appear in court and went on the lam.
The U.S. Marshals Service attempted to arrest Fischer in Athol in October 2024, but he eluded law enforcement on Kelso Lake Road and disappeared.
After a year of pursuit, authorities from multiple jurisdictions tracked Fischer to downtown New Orleans and arrested him Thursday night, according to a news release.
Fischer was convicted in absentia for traveling to meet a minor, police said.
