High-performance car lovers in Libby got a treat last week when Timberline Ford took delivery of a 2025 Ford Mustang GTD.

While many exceptional cars are seen at Ignite the Nites or cruising through Libby during car club events, it’s not often a vehicle of the GTD’s caliber is seen in town. Ryan Andreessen, general manager at Timberline, explained how the beauty arrived in Libby on July 8.

The owner, a man from Washington, previously took receipt of a yellow Ford Mustang GT three years ago at Timberline.

“He has an entire collection of them and he also owned some property in the area so that’s part of how he chose to have the cars delivered here,” Andreessen said. “It’s not often such a vehicle comes to a small town such as Libby.”

The Mustang GTD arrived on the scene in 2023.

The Mustang was the first one delivered to Montana as well as in the western United States in 2025, Andreessen said.

Libby City Council approved a street closure for that morning so the car could be delivered.

According to a May 2025 article in Car and Driver magazine, a Mustang GTD covered the 12.9 mile Nürburgring Nordschleife, also known as the “Green Hell,” in 6:52.072 — more than 5.5 seconds faster than Ford’s previous attempt in August 2024. Ford factory driver Dirk Müller completed both laps. Better weather helped, but the GTD team made some key updates, too.

This particular Mustang is a Heritage model, “Spirit of America” edition.

The engine, a supercharged 5.2-liter V8, produces more than 800 horsepower.

It also features an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and a number of aerodynamic and performance enhancements, including the rear spoiler. The “Spirit of America” edition includes a red, white and blue livery, heritage racing stripes and exposed carbon fiber.

The price tag - about $400,000 - is almost as impressive as the vehicle.

Andreessen said those seeking to buy such a high-end machine must go through a detailed application process.

“It doesn’t matter how many an individual buyer has purchased, for each new vehicle, the process is the same,” he said.

The arrival of the Mustang GTD was one Timberline employees and car aficionados won’t soon forget.

“It’s a unique experience and an honor,” Andreessen said. “We don’t see too many vehicles like this here.”
