Patricia Maxwell, 86
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 9 months AGO
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Pat Maxwell passed away peacefully July 10, 2025, in Spokane, Wash.
She was born June 29, 1939, in Sandpoint, Idaho. She grew up in Clark Fork later moving to Sandpoint to attend Sandpoint High School. It was there that she met many of her lifetime friends as well as her future husband, Gary Maxwell. They became high school sweethearts and she ended up following him to the University of Idaho after receiving a scholarship and working for a year at the Sandpoint Creamery.
Pat was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and later was pinned and engaged to Gary, a Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji). Pat and Gary were married in 1960 and Pat supported Gary through dental and oral surgery school while raising their three children, Mary Maxwell-Covin (Lon), Bob Maxwell (Jennifer) and Beth Murphy (Dan).
They moved to Spokane to build a life, practice and family together and truly made it their home. They filled their "Empty Nester" years with family, lifetime friendships and travel. When they retired, Sandpoint again became their home until they returned to Spokane to be closer to family.
Pat is survived by her beloved husband, Gary Maxwell; their loving children; their seven granddaughters, Katie Curtis (Grant), Trisha Drathman (Leif), Ellie Rivard, Sarah Rivard, Anna Rivard, Julia Rivard and Emma Maxwell, as well as their great-grandchildren, Holden, Bridger and Cameron Curtis.
Gary and Pat were completely devoted to each other for nearly 65 years. Pat was always strong in her faith, a faith she shared with Gary. It is that faith and love that will carry our family through this great loss.
A Rosary will be held Thursday, July 24, at 4 p.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 428 W. 19th Ave., Spokane, Washington. Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday July 25, at 11 a.m., also at St. Augustine. Reception immediately following at Manito Country Club, 5303 S. Hatch Road.
