Sharon Hiatt, 85
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 9 months AGO
Sharon Joanne Hiatt, 85, of Hayden Lake, Idaho, passed away on July 8, 2025. Sharon was born on March 29, 1940, to Helena Marie Mellang and E. Richard Smith in Kansas City, Mo. After Sharon graduated from Wallace High School in 1958, she started a family and went on to raise six children: Pamela Luton, Tamera Cleveland, Miranda Zollinger, Katheryn Adkins, Montgomery Lance DeMars, and Dawna Bennett.
She started her career in food service and eventually became the kitchen manager for two large retirement homes. She was a beloved member of the staff for 20 years.
She was a wonderful mother who put the needs of her children before her own, and she was very crafty, creating stunning quilts and other artworks in her spare time. She very much enjoyed participating in her quilting group.
Late in life, she reconnected with Wallace (Jimmy John) Idaho Capparelli, who had been a childhood friend, and they realized they were soulmates. He passed on February 16 and has been deeply mourned. She is also predeceased by her daughters, Kathryn and Pamela, and her siblings, Bernice (Jean), Judy, and Ed.
Sharon is survived by sisters Jackie Jackson of Beport, Texas, and Janet Allred of Fallon, Nev., her children Tamera, Miranda, Montgomery, and Dawna, and a multitude of grandchildren; she was the heart of our family, and we all love and miss her dearly.
Instead of sending flowers, plant some of your own in memory of Sharon.
Thank you, Miranda
