Shasta Groene to appear at The Well-Read Moose for signing of 'Out of the Woods'

Shasta Groene and author Gregg Olsen will appear at The Well-Read Moose bookstore in Coeur d’Alene from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, for an exclusive book signing for their new collaboration, "Out of the Woods."

"Shasta Groene’s name became tragically well known in 2005, when she and her brother, Dylan, were kidnapped from their North Idaho home following the brutal murders of multiple family members. Only Shasta survived," a press release for the book signing said. "For the first time, Shasta tells her full story: from the horrifying seven weeks in captivity with a serial killer to her yearslong journey of survival, healing and resilience."

The book is described as a "harrowing and courageous memoir recounting one of the most haunting crime stories in recent American history." 

Olsen is best known for "The Deep Dark," his account of the Sunshine Mine disaster in Kellogg in 1972 that claimed the lives of 91 men.

"Gregg Olsen brings his unmatched storying and compassionate voice to this powerful true story of pain, endurance and hope," the release read.

Out of the Woods will be released Friday, Aug. 1, and will be available for purchase in-store and online.
