SilverHoops 3-on-3 set for this weekend

KELLOGG — Organizers are expecting over 200 teams at this year’s SilverHoops 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, once again eyeing the record for most teams in a single year.
SilverHoops Committee member Ethan Wendt is excited for the upcoming weekend, with plenty of good reason, too.
Increased registration means continued growth for the event, which includes increased courts, vendors, spectators and volunteer opportunities.
“We’ve expanded play space with additional courts added along Railroad Avenue to help accommodate the growing number of teams,” Wendt said. “People should expect a fun, family-friendly weekend. We’ll have music, free access to the city pool to cool off and plenty of vendors and good vibes.”
SilverHoops is the biggest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in North Idaho, with roughly 4,000 people making their way down to Teeters Field to either play or watch. Among the reasons the committee believes the event continues to grow is the relationship the tournament has with local businesses and a willingness to adapt.
Most recently, they’ve accomplished this by changing the format of the tournament, turning the first day of the event into a round-robin style seeding day, and then holding a single-elimination tournament Sunday. This encourages people to stay for the weekend, instead of eliminating teams Saturday and effectively reducing the turnout Sunday.
Team registration is closed, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any other opportunities to get involved in the fun weekend.
“We are immensely grateful for the support of our dedicated volunteers and sponsors, whose contributions are instrumental in making SilverHoops a success each year,” Wendt said.
Teams can pick up their registration packets at the Scout House on Friday at 5 p.m. or Saturday morning.
SilverHoops 2025 is Saturday and Sunday. For more information, or to find out about volunteer opportunities, visit www.silverhoops3on3.com or contact the Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce at 208-784-0821.
