The Glacier Twins wrapped up a four-game stretch with a 1-3 record, earning a hard-fought win over Missoula on Sunday after a series of competitive but tough losses earlier in the week. The Twins now sit at 6-27-1 on the season.
Glacier opened the stretch with a doubleheader against Kalispell on July 16, narrowly falling 6-5 in the first game. After trailing 6-0, the Twins rallied for four runs in the sixth and another in the seventh. Nolan Amerman led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3, while West Amerman drove in two runs. Dawson Juntunen pitched six and two-thirds innings, striking out six while allowing only two earned runs.
In the nightcap, Glacier outhit Kalispell 6-4 but couldn’t capitalize, falling 2-0. Treyson Murphy turned in a strong complete-game effort on the mound, giving up just one earned run while striking out five. Connor Magnuson paced the offense with a pair of hits, including a double, but Glacier left too many runners stranded to overcome Kalispell’s early lead. Reed Boyer also doubled in the contest.
The Twins returned to action on July 20 against Missoula, dropping the opener 12-1. Dawson Juntunen had a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate and drove in Glacier’s lone run with a double in the first inning. Defensive struggles plagued the Twins throughout, with five errors contributing to Missoula’s big innings.
Glacier bounced back in the second game, posting a 7-4 win behind a six-run third inning. Eight different Twins recorded hits, with Reed Boyer delivering a triple and two RBIs. Keaton Simpach also doubled and drove in a run. West Amerman held Missoula to just one run over five and one-third innings to earn the win, while Joaquin Gonzalez closed the door with a scoreless final inning and a third.
