July 24, 1975 – GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY SET

A fiftieth wedding anniversary reception for Gilbert and Emma Nordgaarden Saturday at the Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall is open to all friends of the family. The Nordgaardens, married in Minnesota on Dec. 5, 1925, are celebrating early to coincide with a family reunion. Their eleven children, who will be at the reception are LeRoy, Eddie, Gaylord, and Millard, Lila Petersen and Grace Brixen, all of Sandpoint; Gladys Wahl, Everett, Wash.; Manda Benton, Spokane; Glen of Hope; Earl of Cut Bank, Mont. and Arnold, St. Louis, Mo.

SPECIAL CHURCH SERVICES PLANNED

A family singing group will combine music with preaching and bible teaching in ecumenical evening bible services Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Sandpoint United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ken Lawrence and his wife and family from Orlando, Florida are traveling across the country this summer in their mobile home holding “Holy Spirit Renewal” services, in which the whole family participates in the music, singing, preaching and bible teaching. Lawrence’s family includes his wife Mavis, their son Danny, 14, the group’s guitarist, sons Donny,12, and Timmy, 9, and daughter Tammy, 6.

On July 14, Douglas and Karen Ward opened Sundance Realty, 317 Church St.  Doug Ward, 29, a long-time resident of Sandpoint, says their motto is “When you list with us, you can start packing!”

July 24, 1950 – HAWKINS VISITS RELATIVES

Mr. and Mrs. William Hawkins arrived Monday for a visit with his sister, Mrs. Florence Selle, and his brother, Dalton Hawkins. William will be recalled here by old timers as an outstanding athletic star in high school days back in the ‘20s. At present he is manager of the J.C. Penney store at Shelton, Wash.

SAGLE BASEBALL NINE COPS TOURNAMENT

Sagle’s baseball team emerged at the top of the heap in the North Idaho district baseball tournament played at Memorial field last weekend. The all-district team named after the games includes: Harp Turnbull, Sagle; Barney Emery, Sandpoint V.F.W.; Vernoy Olson, V.F.W.; Wayne Hawkins, Sagle; Vern Verhei, Sagle; Bob Nelson, V.F.W.; Delbert Sheffler, Sagle; Dave Clark, V.F.W.; Jerry Miller, V.F.W.; Gerald Coulston, V.F.W.; Don Verhei, Sagle; Harley Gunter, Sagle; and Jim Hatch, Coeur d’Alene.

PIGS AND CALVES IN GOLD CUP 4-H ENTRY

Bruce Sarff’s little pig helped win a trophy for the Gold Cup 4-H club of Laclede in Sandpoint’s July 4th parade. Gene Driggs, Warren Ramsey Jr., and Faye Engelen had charge of the livestock; on a bench at the front, Charles Reeves held a forestry display; Barbara Glazier and Carolyn Engelen were queens of the entry. Don Engelen is leader of the club. Members range in age from nine to 19.
