Youth football underway in Shoshone County

Coaches and players from the Silver Valley's youth football programs held a summer camp last week at Kellogg High School.

KELLOGG — Last week, 40 middle school athletes hit the field for a four-day football camp hosted by the Kellogg Junior Tackle Football Program. The camp ran from July 14 to 17 on the upper fields behind Kellogg High School.
Players spent the week sharpening their skills on both sides of the ball. Drills focused on fundamentals — linemen worked on footwork, backfield players drilled ball security and receivers practiced stalk blocking and route trees to prep for the upcoming season.
This fall marks the first official season of middle school football sponsored by the Kellogg School District. The coaching staff includes assistant coaches Ryan Seaton, Dolph Hoch and Nathan Corkill, with Kyle Hudson and Martin Munoz stepping in as volunteer coaches. Shanon Pooler will lead the team as head coach.
The season kicks off Aug. 11, with practices scheduled from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Pre-season workouts are already underway.
