LEGION BASEBALL: Lums bow out in two at state

NAMPA — Jack Pierce doubled to score Mark Holecek in the bottom of the first inning for Coeur d’Alene, but a two-run double by Twin Falls catcher Maddox Stadelmeir was the difference as the Cowboys beat the Lumbermen 5-2 in a loser-out game in the state “AA” American Legion baseball tournament on Friday at Rodeo Park. 

Coeur d’Alene finishes 26-20. 

Stadelmeir had a sacrifice fly in the first inning for Twin Falls (20-15), which faces the Parma Charros today in a loser-out game. 

Dylan Cook singled to score Kyle Johnson in the sixth for Coeur d’Alene.

IDAHO FALLS — Timothy Howard had a two-run single at the plate to back a three-hit day on the mound for the Cardinals, who eliminated the Braves in a loser-out game in the state “A” tournament at the Tiger Athletic Complex. 

Howard struck out four for Prairie (23-14-1), which kept its season alive with a 2-1 win in 11 innings against Northern Lakes earlier on Friday at Bonneville High. 

Gavin Wienker and Bryce Berger also had RBIs for Prairie, which faces the Kuna Tribe in a loser-out game today. 

Nampa finished 16-15-2.

Jace Taylor, Tadgh Ellwood and Jace Cooksey had two hits each for Northern Lakes, which finished 36-9.
