Glacier Medical Associates has opened a new clinic on U.S. 2 in Evergreen with the aim of providing access for more patients in the Flathead Valley.

"We want to take care of you and we want to be in your community. That’s why we’re here,” said Dr. John Kalbfleisch, Glacier Medical Associates’ senior physician and medical director of the Evergreen location.

While Glacier Medical Associates' original location is in Whitefish, the clinic expanded to include a Columbia Falls location in 2020 to offer services to more residents. The latest expansion, in Evergreen, is in hope to continue to meet people where they are at through providing primary and walk-in care.

“We’ve talked about it for years, but we got serious about it recently. It was just really appreciated in Columbia Falls. It was a way for us to come to our patients, rather than them having to come to us. We wanted to see that happen again,” said Kalbfleisch.

The Evergreen clinic features seven exam rooms with potential for growth.

Glacier Medical Associates was established in 2001. The medical clinics offer primary care, acute care, and pediatric care, with a focus on family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, and geriatrics.

Expanding into Evergreen made sense for Kalbfleisch, he said, as it is one area that continues to grow quickly in the valley.

“Evergreen is growing. It’s a great community and it’s greatly underserved,” he said of the available medical resources.

In light of the expansion, Dr. Jonathan Anderson, a Kalispell local who has practiced for over two decades in the community, was brought onto the team.

“We value really competent community-based care and that is him to a tee,” Kalbfleisch said, pointing at Anderson.

Anderson previously worked at Logan Health. He will be at the new Glacier Medical location Mondays through Thursdays.

“Primary care covers the whole lifespan of someone and their families,” Anderson said. “We have a hometown doctor feel with staff here that can help you.”

Ben Pate, a physician assistant, will join the team in the fall. Megan Groh, also a physician assistant, and Laura Jones, a family nurse practitioner, are also on the team.

“We have very, very competent medical providers and an amazing staff. We want to be an advocate and help you get your health care, not be a barrier to that,” Kalbfleisch said.

In this new role, Anderson looks forward to connecting with families, Evergreen residents and others in the area, whether that be at the grocery store or in the exam room. The best part about internal medicine practices is that doctors get invited into people’s lives, sometimes throughout their whole life. It’s rewarding, he said.

From certifying someone for their Montana Department of Transportation physical to stitching a laceration to taking off a cast, Glacier Medical Associates is simply there to help the community, Kalbfleisch said.

Glacier Medical Associates in Evergreen, located at 2310 U.S. 2 East, is open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The clinic is open to walk-ins and urgent care visits.

While the Evergreen clinic is closed on weekends, the urgent care at the location in Whitefish is open.
