NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Sandpoint City Council will hold a public hearing during their meeting on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, which begins at 5:30 p.m. in Council chambers at City Hall, 1123 W. Lake St., Sandpoint, Idaho. The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment as Council considers an update to the boundaries of Sandpoint’s Area of Impact (AOI) (formerly referred to as the “Area of City Impact” or ACI), which is an area that extends beyond Sandpoint city limits into portions of unincorporated Bonner County. This hearing follows the Bonner County Board of County Commissioners’ June 16, 2025, AOI public hearing, at which time they directed that cities’ proposed areas of impact should be limited to areas that are “very likely to be annexed in the next five years” and the Sandpoint Planning and Zoning Commission’s public hearing held July 15, 2025, where the Commission voted unanimously to recommend to City Council the elimination of Sandpoint’s AOI. The City’s pursuit of an update to the AOI boundary falls under the provisions of Idaho Code § 67-6526, which governs the establishment and amendment of areas of impact for cities, in coordination with the county. All interested persons are encouraged to attend the public hearing and provide comments.
