July 29, 1975 – LADY BUG TO OPEN SOON

Two former teachers “looking for fulfillment in another area” will open a clothing store for the young and the young at heart in August in Gunnings Alley. Carmen Hammarberg and Shirley Bonucelli will offer fashions at the Lady Bug in a comfortable atmosphere of music, painting and plants. Carmen, whose husband recently joined the law offices of Bandelin and Weiss, will manage the Lady Bug.

CHATEAU SUPPER CLUB SOLD

Pete and Cheryl Pederson have purchased the Chateau Supper Club in Ponderay from owner Dick Andersen. “We plan to continue the good food and service,” said Cheryl Pederson. Andersen began the Chateau Supper Club in 1970, converting it from a tavern into a dining establishment. Pete Pederson will continue to operate Pete’s Truck and Auto Salvage; his wife, former owner of Cheryl’s beauty Salon, will supervise the Chateau’s operation.

BLAISDELL TO OPEN PRACTICE HERE

Dr. Jack S. Blaisdell, who attended Yale Medical School from 1936-1940 and did specialized training at the Mayo Clinic, will open a practice here at 302 S. First Ave., specializing in orthopedic surgery. He comes from Santa Ana, Calif. where he had a  practice for 28 years. The fact that there is no other orthopedic surgeon in this area attracted Blaisdell to Sandpoint. He also said California is just not as nice as it used to be, and he wished to move his practice.

July 29, 1950 – WATER RATES GO UP 25%

Sandpoint water rates will soon go up 25 per cent. The increase had been considered for some time, but the water board was reluctant to increase the rates until absolutely forced to do so. The new general home rate, which has been $2.00 per month for many, many years, will go up on Aug. 1 to $2.50. That figure is subject to the usual 10 per cent discount if paid in 10 days, reducing it to $2.25 net.

WOODFAIRE NEWS by Mrs. Carl Hulquist

Ralph and Robert Crabb of Morton spent Sunday evening with Buster Crabb, a cousin, at Jewel lake.

Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Clark joined Mrs. Art Hulquist Sunday picking huckleberries on the hills back of Millikens. The berries are quite scattered.

Mrs. Carl Hulquist has been picking pie cherries at the F. Kemper home in Laclede.

Mrs. Nettie Shrake returned recently from Portland and Salem, after visiting her children for six weeks.

The Past Matron’s club of the Eastern Star will meet Thursday at the home of Miss Blanche Senft, 514 Fifth [in 2025, site of Fifth Avenue Car Wash].
