The 43rd Annual Big Mountain run on Saturday saw ideal weather, record participants and record times.

The run, hosted by Glacier Nordic Club, had 149 registrants and 131 completed the almost 4-mile, 2,200-foot uphill challenge on the Danny On Trail on Big Mountain.

Madelaine Jellison from Bigfork was queen of the mountain, clocking 42:18, and landing her eighth on the all-time Big Mountain Run leader board. Jellison also did a double, running the Boogie to the Bank 5k in 18:43 in Columbia Falls just an hour earlier that morning.

Copper Laird took king of the mountain with a speedy 37:05.

In second place overall, taking the title of prince, was 14-year-old Porter Shehan in 40:16. Kaci Monroe was the second-place female in 44:15. Third overall was Eske Roennau from Aspen in 41:43, and Olivia Skillings, Glacier Nordic Club coach, finished in 45:15.

On the junior boys podium, 16 and under, was Porter Shehan (40:16), Shaw Simpson (44:58) and Griffin Connelly (47:01). On the junior girls podium was Hannah Bork (50:19), Heidi Bork (55:30) and Frankie Beckman (1:00).

Top runner with a dog on leash, “top dog,” went to Jonathan Gordon with Quinto.

Seventeen racers made it into the “Birthday Club,” by running a course time that was less than their age, with women allowed an additional 10 minutes.
