POST FALLS — A well that broke down last week, prompting the city to call for water conservation, has been repaired.
Staff with the city of Post Falls Water Division worked with local contractors to diagnose and repair an issue with the motor of Well 8, according to a news release. The well has been returned to full operational status.
“We appreciate the community’s cooperation while repairs took place,” a news release said. “Efforts to minimize inefficient water use, both by customers and the city, combined with cooler weather, led to a measurable decrease in water usage last week. This helped reduce the strain on the remaining wells and minimize impacts to water pressure.”
Post Falls has 10 wells with a pumping capacity of 25 million gallons per day. Well 8 has a capacity of about 2.8 million gallons per day.
Peak summer water usage usually fluctuates between 13 to 15 million gallons per day. The public works department has not experienced any difficulties in keeping up with the water demand for Post Falls this summer.

MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Museum & Art Center will host Stampa-Palooza this weekend as the September Free Family Saturday. “We will have a variety of stamps, ink pads, and cardstock available to create custom projects,” Museum Communications Coordinator Natalya Zuyeva wrote in an email to the Columbia Basin Herald. “Pick out your favorite designs and stamp away.” The museum hosts the craft event on the first Saturday of the month, with all the supplies paid for through memberships and donations. Although there’s no charge, families are asked to register at the museum’s website.
