WHITEFISH, Mont. — Eight members of the Summer Badgers 15U travel baseball team competed both with and against each other this past Friday, July 25 through Sunday, July 27 as they took to the field for their final games of the summer at the Montana Superdraft Tournament held at Smith Fields.

The Montana Superdraft tournament, hosted by Blades Athletic Performance Academy, is unique in the sense that players are registered individually and divided into teams at random. Coaches meet their team about an hour before the first game on Friday and play four to six games in total over the weekend. The eight players from Bonners Ferry were spread throughout five of the tournament's six teams — Gordon Woelfle was placed on Chinook Seedery White, Baylor Sheets and Couper Hart on CF Estate Planning Cardinal, Winchester Woelfle on Hammer Nutrition Gold, Max Thompson and Colson Baisden on Montana Matt Properties Purple, and Landen Dickson and Tyson Dickson on Project Whitefish Kids Royal, which won the entire tournament and were coached by Summer Badgers head coach Alan Dickson and assistant coach Dustin Woelfle.

Gordon Woelfle, competing for the second-place White squad, put together a batting average close to .700 and had four doubles over the three-day tournament. On the mound, he struck out 10 batters over nine innings of work. Sheets, competing for the Cardinal, closed out the game on the bump during the first round of bracket play to propel his team to the semifinals.

It was Winchester Woelfle, Baisden, Hart and Tyson Dickson's second consecutive year participating in the tournament. Next year, Gordon Woelfle, Sheets, Hart, Thompson and Landen Dickson are eligible to return.
