MOSES LAKE — The Washington State Patrol will ramp up enforcement this weekend around the Gorge Amphitheatre, according to an announcement from the WSP.

The High-Visibility Enforcement, or HiVE, patrols are meant to reduce serious injury and fatality collisions, the WSP wrote. The WSP will partner with other law enforcement agencies in the effort.

The WSP will use the aggressive driving apprehension team, or ADAT, vehicles, aviation and several marked patrol cars equipped with state-of-the-art speed measuring devices strategically placed within Grant and Kittitas counties, according to the announcement.

The three-day Watershed music festival, one of the largest outdoor festivals in Washington state, begins Friday and runs through Sunday at the Gorge Amphitheatre.

“Our goal is to contact collision-causing violations that are often seen during the influx of traffic in and out of the George/Gorge area for the annual Watershed country music festival,” Trooper Jeremy Weber, District 6 PIO, wrote in the announcement. “DUI, speed, restraints, aggressive driving, distracted driving and towing violations will be among the collision-causing violations we will be targeting.”
