LEGION BASEBALL: River City Thunder trips Lums in 13

COEUR d’ALENE — The River City Thunder Premier scored on a passed ball in the top of the 13th inning, and went on to beat the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen “AA” team 6-5 on Sunday at Thorco Field. 

Tanner Franklin singled to score Mark Holecek with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Coeur d’Alene to tie the game at 3. 

Aven Adams delivered a two-run double in the ninth for the Lums to tie it at 5.  

Franklin struck out five in seven innings. 

River City, featuring several players from Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, dropped a doubleheader to the Lums on Saturday at Thorco. 

Coeur d’Alene plays host to the Crew 18U team Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Thorco Field.

Northern Lakes opens with sweep 

MOSCOW — Jace Taylor had a pair of RBI singles as the Mountaineers opened their season with a class A North Idaho League victory over the Blue Devils and the Moscow School District Community Playfields. 

Northern Lakes also won the nonleague second game 19-4. 

Griffin Tamagni, Eric Wylie and Jace Cooksey also each had a pair of hits for the Mountaineers in the opener. 

In the second game, Dane Perkl went 3 for 5 with four RBIs and three runs scored for Northern Lakes. He hit a two-run double in the first inning, an RBI double in the third and a run-scoring single in the fourth.
